Job Title: Electrical Helper / Low Voltage Technician Job Description
This role supports electricians on commercial and industrial construction projects by assisting with the installation, modification, and removal of electrical and low-voltage systems. You work hands-on with EMT conduit, panel upgrades, data cabling, and structured wiring systems while following safety practices and learning the electrical trade. The position is ideal for a mechanically inclined, safety-conscious individual who wants to grow their skills in both electrical and low-voltage work.
Responsibilities

• Install, bend, and securely fasten ¾\" to 1\" EMT conduit in commercial and industrial settings.
• Pull and terminate electrical and low-voltage cabling according to project specifications.
• Assist with electrical panel changeouts and upgrades, including preparation and cleanup.
• Demolish and remove existing CAT5, CAT6, and other low-voltage cabling in a safe and organized manner.
• Run data cabling and structured cabling systems to support network and low-voltage infrastructure.
• Install cable supports such as J-hooks, cable tray, and pathways to maintain proper cable management.
• Support electricians with wire pulls, circuit routing, and general electrical installation tasks.
• Read and follow blueprints, electrical drawings, and installation instructions to complete work accurately.
• Install electrical devices, receptacles, switches, and low-voltage equipment as directed.
• Perform basic electrical demolition work while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Label and dress cables neatly to ensure organized and serviceable installations.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 1 year of commercial or industrial construction experience preferred.
• Experience installing or assisting with EMT conduit systems, including basic conduit bending.
• Familiarity with low-voltage and data cabling installations such as CAT5 and CAT6.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic electrical testing equipment.
• Ability to read tape measures and perform basic construction math accurately.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and installation sketches.
• Hands-on experience with wire pulling and basic circuit routing.
• Capability to install electrical devices such as receptacles, switches, and related equipment.
• Comfort working with electrical demolition tasks in commercial or industrial environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with commercial electrical construction projects.
• Experience pulling and terminating CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cable.
• Exposure to access control, CCTV, security, or fire alarm systems.
• Experience using conduit benders and knockout tools.
• Experience with cable tray and J-hook installations.
• Knowledge of structured cabling and data cable routing.
• Ability to perform cable dressing, management, and labeling for organized installations.
• Experience supporting rack and patch panel installations.
• Attention to detail and strong commitment to safety in active commercial and industrial spaces.

Work Environment
You work in existing commercial and industrial spaces, often around active operations and installed infrastructure. The role involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, and basic testing equipment while handling EMT conduit, electrical wiring, data cabling, and structured cabling systems. Personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, steel-toe boots, and safety glasses is required. You can expect a field-based environment where you move throughout job sites, work in various building areas, and follow established safety procedures and site rules.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Burlington, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
