Professional Nurse Position

Performs the primary function of a professional nurse in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Operates without Unit Clerk, Respiratory Therapy, Stroke Team, OB Support, Code Blue support, Phlebotomy, and House Supervisor. Responsible for Ventilator Management, Lab Draws including ABGs, placing phone calls and receiving/answering phone calls, paging on call resources, Responding/Activating Code Blue and Housekeeping as needed. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills.

Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. Must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University. Must obtain certifications in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program – please check all that apply: BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC/TCAR, CPI. Must pass the Medication Assessment within 3 months of coming to the department with a score of 90% or greater.
