Registered Nurse
Emory Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse that is a clinical expert in area of specialization with experience in integrating knowledge gained through practice and education to respond intuitively to patient/family needs, leading efforts to strengthen organizational systems that support patient care, is adept at creative problem-solving, negotiating conflict, and collaborating with others, demonstrates insight, judgment, and clinically sound risk-taking. This clinician will serve as a role model and expert in communication skills to colleagues through example. Ideal candidates will demonstrate foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience and is recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty. This position will also assist less experienced nurses concerning patient care, assume a leadership and resource role with the interdisciplinary team, be considered the expert, and is viewed as a formal leader.
Clinical Expertise and Patient Care:
1. Role models dependable, effective, and efficient care to a patient population using the nursing process.
2. Demonstrates expert assessment skills.
3. Demonstrates exemplary practice using AACN Synergy Model for Patient Care.
4. Functions as a Charge Nurse when assigned.
5. Intuitively uses self in the therapeutic relationship as a means to enhance care.
6. Respects others' values and suspends judgment.
7. Plans constructive interventions based on the patients values.
8. Effectively elicits cultural beliefs and values from patients and integrates these into overall patient management.
9. Utilizes patient satisfaction feedback as a factor in designing patient care delivery.
10. Identifies and systematically addresses the needs of long-term or extended stay patients to improve satisfaction.
11. Monitors issues and their resolution.
Leadership, Mentorship, and Team Development:
1. Leads and coordinates team behavior between staff members and actively fosters the development of leadership skills in others.
2. Orients staff or students assigned in absence of designated preceptor.
3. Assists less experienced nurses concerning patient care.
4. Develops staff competencies utilizing Clinical Nurse Specialists as resource/consultant.
5. Actively participates in monitoring and developing staff competency.
6. Role models delegation skills to colleagues and assist others in effective delegation utilizing the synergy model of care.
Quality, Research, and Process Improvement:
1. Monitors the adherence to documentation standards, provides feedback to staff, and implements test(s) of change.
2. Assists management in making and implementing changes to the documentation process as necessary.
3. Establishes, promotes, and evaluates standardized plans of care for the unit using evidence-based research within the area of specialty.
4. Remains informed of innovative clinical trends through bench marking and evidence-based practice.
5. Identifies, initiates, and collaborates to provide educational programs needed.
6. Demonstrates current evidence-based practice and disseminates information.
7. Questions clinical practice as it relates to research.
8. Evaluates the use of resources and cost containment activities.
9. Assists colleagues in resolving routine, non-routine or complex issues and facilitates escalation if necessary.
Communication and Compliance:
1. Exhibits desire to hear and understand another's point of view.
2. Demonstrates and role models effective communication skills.
3. Takes a leadership role in building and maintaining an environment which fosters open and candid communication.
4. Take appropriate action to correct unacceptable practice as needed.
5. Role models time management skills through example.
6. Ensures compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures for a patient population.
7. Collaborates with management and patient/family advisor council to develop standardized teaching materials for patient and family learning needs.
8. Role models and educate others utilizing the Synergy model for patient care.
9. Respects and maintains confidential information.
Commitments:
1. Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.
2. Achieves points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position
Minimum Qualifications:
Education - Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Experience - 2 years of recent nursing experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration.
Licensure - A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
Certification - 1. BLS certification 2. ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire 3. Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty 4. If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status
PLAN: 1. Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments. 2. Completion of VIP or EBP Project. 3. Achieves points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.
