Imagine a career where your expertise breathes life into the spoken word — where every conversation fosters connection and every therapy session unlocks potential. As a Speech Language Pathologist in the bustling, art-filled corridors of Grand Rapids, your purpose will extend far beyond treating communication and swallowing disorders. You will be instrumental in restoring confidence, bridging gaps in communication, and creating connections, whether you're facilitating a toddler's first words or helping an older adult regain their independence.
This position offers a unique chance to engage with a diverse range of patients across varying stages of life in a dynamic environment that seamlessly combines outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient support. Your passion for pediatrics, adult neurogenic disorders, or geriatric cognitive rehabilitation will find a nurturing home here, surrounded by opportunities that allow for both growth and flexibility.
Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and senior populations using both standardized assessments and observational methodologies.
Craft individualized treatment plans that not only meet immediate goals but also address the broader spectrum of communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs.
Deliver compassionate one-on-one speech therapy, focusing on various aspects such as communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
Engage collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, families, and caregivers to develop integrated care approaches.
Educate patients and their families to promote progress and support therapeutic interventions outside of clinical sessions.
Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and therapeutic interventions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care for all patients.
Maintain diligent and timely documentation in adherence to state, federal, and organizational standards.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in speech-language pathology through continuous professional development and teamwork.
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
Supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) completion is required for those who are not yet ASHA-certified.
Current licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in Michigan.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is desirable.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Expertise in evidence-based intervention techniques across all age groups, complemented by a solid grasp of speech, language, and swallowing disorders that are either developmental or acquired.
Strong interpersonal skills that foster effective communication among patients, their families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Adept at tailoring therapy approaches to honor diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Demonstrated clinical judgment and the ability to problem-solve with innovative solutions.
Familiarity with electronic medical records and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
Competitive salary reflective of experience and qualifications.
Flexible scheduling to enhance work-life balance and manage varied caseloads.
Opportunities for specialization in pediatrics, adult neuro rehab, or geriatrics.
Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage options.
Support for continuing education and professional growth.
A collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere dedicated to quality care and lifelong education.
A Career Filled with Possibilities — and Purpose
In this role, your impact transcends traditional therapy. You will immerse yourself in a thriving community movement to inspire, empower, and facilitate clear communication amongst individuals. You'll work alongside an exceptional team who treat each other as family, in a culture that values cooperation over competition. Every patient has a narrative; we'll rely on your expertise to help mold the way it's shared.
