Test Automation Engineer (Testing Enablement)

This role outlines the need for a highly motivated and result oriented test automation engineer who will oversee design and build automation tests to ensure software quality by writing test scripts and framework. This individual must ensure best practices and processes are adapted to the project team's specific needs and help identify areas to help build testability in from the start. Another key aspect of this role is to combine best practices in automated code base to ensure that projects are delivered with better reliability, faster time to deploy and apt user acceptance.

Responsibilities:

The automation engineer will serve as a central point of contact for all best practices and governances implemented by the Testing Enablement team and adopt that to all test automation projects.

Must be able to work closely with the developers and product managers/owners to help with identifying areas of improvement for Test Automation on a regular on-going basis and enable use of a solid framework to house the automated test cases.

Lead the effort for tool selection for applications based on the need and onboard the tools like Playwright, Test Complete etc. that is suitable to automate each application.

Develop a strong and robust framework to standardize major applications that will house a common and reusable data input and output criteria.

Must maintain automation testing artifacts and should be involved with metrics evaluation along with the supporting automation team. This individual must be able to provide input to the Technical/Functional Requirement (BRD) gathering and help with identifying automation capabilities for the new test cases.

Constantly review and monitor the test suite to identify new regression scripts that can be

automated further.

Provides training and mentorship to the testers in the application teams and help implement the best practices provided by the Testing Enablement Team.

Must work closely with the Testing Enablement Function Lead to identify and foster creation and usage of automated services for various phases of testing and have them ready prior to testing cycles. Early identification of various opportunities is key.

Must make sure that the defects are properly documented in accordance with the Requirement Traceability Matrix and triaged properly. Manage and assign priority to all defects with feedback received from Functional Test Lead.

Experience with Desktop Application automation and mobile testing automation using Appium.

Assess and report on project testing health metrics by taking inputs from Functional Lead, Development lead, application team lead etc.

Must be a fast learner to possess deep understanding of the project team's application architecture, priorities and be able to provide quick feedback for improvement at the same time balancing team priorities with enterprise governance standards.

Share insights and lessons learned and defect triage status with the Testing Enablement Lead in order to add to the enterprise status and reporting metrics if available.

Stay current with new test technologies and recommend the implementation of those to program managers / Tower Lead and analyze how that can improve the current ways of working.

Help each team identify opportunities to shift to a Test Driven Development model and enable/foster maturity to shift left.

Must be able to show a tangible result with improved defect identification, test automation coverage and improved performance test metrics.

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools and proficiency in corresponding programming scripting language. Knowledge in Java, Python, Typescript/Javascript is a must.

Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies and also well versed with the CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge on GitLab CI a plus.

Strong knowledge on test automation tools is a must. Tools like Selenium, Playwright, Junit, TestNG is a mandatory requirement.

Must be able to create automation framework from scratch with very strong detailed analysis on reusable functionality and classes.

Must be able to work in a hybrid model with a set number of days from the office depending on the team's schedule.

Must be flexible in order to work overtime if at all required to support team activities.
