Portland Housing Authority is seeking a Housing Officer to guide residents across the Greater Portland area through the housing application, eligibility, and certification process. You’ll join a collaborative team committed to helping people access stable housing and understand each step along the way. Experience supporting people in social service settings, working with interpreters, and administering federal housing programs will help you thrive in this role.

What you’ll do:

• Determine housing eligibility by completing verifications and creating and maintaining accurate applicant and client files, records, and reports
• Prepare rent calculations and complete income certifications and recertifications
• Collaborate with and support fellow team members as needed

What will help you succeed:

• An associate degree
• Two years of experience administering federal housing programs
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Strong attention to detail
• Clear, empathetic communication skills
• Curiosity and a willingness to learn
• Strong organizational skills
• The ability to manage your time and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
