Private Cloud Engineer

Overview Build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems. Use hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms to ensure the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. Responsibilities Develop, deliver, and maintain high‑quality infrastructure solutions to fulfil business requirements, ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use. Identify appropriate technologies and solutions to meet business, optimisation, and resourcing requirements. Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages. Use data to drive down mean time to resolution and improve incident management. Develop and implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention using software scripting and coding disciplines. Implement secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber‑attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats. Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements and devise solutions that align with business objectives. Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, actively contributing to the organization’s technology communities. Assist the Service Operations Cloud Team with client escalations and provide incident stack coverage on a rotational basis. Build new capacity when required and plan, implement, and lead Agile projects using JIRA. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Barclays policies and standards. Leadership & Collaboration Lead cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and engineers. Demonstrate Barclays values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship, and the Barclays Mindset of Empower, Challenge, and Drive. For Leadership roles: advise decision making, contribute to policy development, manage operational effectiveness, set objectives, coach staff, and drive performance. For Individual Contributor roles: lead collaborative assignments, guide team members, identify cross‑functional solutions, conduct complex analysis, and influence stakeholders. Identify and mitigate risk, develop new policies and procedures, and strengthen controls. Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources and communicate complex information to stakeholders. Qualifications Experience building and supporting private cloud infrastructure, particularly using VMware Cloud Foundation. Proficiency in Agile methodologies and experience delivering cloud‑related projects. Strong knowledge of vulnerability patching, system upgrades, and releases. Experience with incident management, including Level 3 escalations. Ability to work collaboratively with clients and partners to implement projects. Solid understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management frameworks. Benefits Base salary range: $120,000 – $175,000 per year. Eligible for incentive awards.
