Description

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctionalfacilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of theCommonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out themandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquireskills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Green River Correctional Complex is seeking applicants for a Purchasing Officer II to work within the Fiscaloffice at the institution.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develops and issues request for quotes to vendors.
• Researches and creates requisitions for goods and non-professional services when the expenditures amountexceeds the agency's small purchase authority.
• Coordinates with various departments for input to the contract requests.
• Creates delivery orders and purchase order for purchases.
• Completes purchase orders, receives approval and forwards approved purchase orders to vendor forprocessing.
• Reviews request for local purchases by phone in in writing, authorizes such purchases in accordance withthe model procurement code.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High School Graduate

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Two years of experience in the inventory, control, sales or disposal, or acquisition of property, or a related field.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
