This position is located in the Information Technology Division and is responsible providing onsite technical support at the Vete rans Home of California in Yountville. This includes network, workstation, telecommunications, and call center support. The IT Specialist I (ITS I) will support the Information Technology Branch (ITB) and third-party network devices, desktop computing, and moderately complex local network systems.

Effective July 1, 2025, California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that state employees shall receive a three percent (3%) reduction in pay in exchange for five (5) hours of PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in this job advertisement do not reflect the 3% reduction in pay.

The SOQ serves as documentation of your ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. In your SOQ, describe your experience, knowledge, and competencies as they relate to each of the items listed below. • This position is at the California Veterans Home in Yountville. Please share interest in working for CalVet at this facility.

• Describe in detail your systematic approach to troubleshooting a complex technical issue that you have not encountered before. Provide a specific example of a challenging Tier II issue you resolved, including the steps you took to isolate the problem, the tools and resources you used, and how you ensured a permanent fix or preventative measure

• Tier II support often involves managing a diverse workload with competing priorities and varying degrees of severity. Explain the process you use to prioritize and manage multiple support tickets simultaneously. Describe a specific situation where you had several 'urgent' requests at once, and detail how you managed your time, communicated with users, and ensured critical issues were addressed first.

• The California Veterans Home in Yountville is a 24/7 healthcare facility and home. Please share your experience, if any, working in a health care environment. Describe your experience supporting healthcare-specific applications and clinical workflows. Detail a specific instance where you had to troubleshoot an issue involving protected health information (PHI), explaining how you ensured strict adherence to security protocols, maintained system uptime for clinical operations, and communicated effectively with clinical staff during a critical incident.
