HR Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist manages all human resource functions for the assigned location, including recruitment, new hire processing, benefits enrollment, workers’ compensation, and related administrative tasks. The role serves as the primary employee contact for employment‑related issues. Responsibilities Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Make all hiring decisions for the station. Create and maintain a thorough recruiting network that includes community colleges, travel/airline academies, high school/student employment offices, Job Services (State Employment Office), and other public agencies to generate qualified applicants. Plan and conduct new employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward company goals. Keep records of benefits plan participation, personnel transactions (hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations), and employee statistics for government reporting. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Develop recruitment strategies in conjunction with station manager to achieve required staffing levels. Make presentations to potential applicants at career expos, job fairs, and other venues. Interview and select qualified applicants while managing the background verification and new hire orientation process in a manner that promotes a positive experience for the newly hired team member. Conduct wage and benefits surveys. Research airport/port authorities, cities, etc., to determine any special regulatory requirements regarding wages and/or benefits. Research and provide economic data for cities within the assigned region. Interact with employee groups to identify any issues that may affect recruitment and retention efforts. Maintain local personnel files and routinely audit all records to ensure local and regulatory compliance. Act as authorized signatory for AGI, controlling the applications of badging for new hires, rebadging for current staff, and serving as primary point of contact for the airport badging office and other regulatory agencies such as customs and border protection. Assist with administrative duties including, but not limited to, employee payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other reports such as labor, out‑of‑scope billing, de‑icing, and airline compliance reports when not performing critical human resource functions. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old and possess an associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; alternatively, two years of related experience and/or training. Demonstrated strong communication skills to interact professionally with team members and customers. Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting operations and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to pass a drug screen and obtain airport security clearance, which includes an extensive employment, criminal record, and residence background check. Physical Requirements Must sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and use close vision with the ability to adjust focus. Schedule Operations run twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week. Employees must be able to work flexible schedules and on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) as well as holidays, with strict adherence to company attendance policies.
