Senior Systems Test Engineer

The Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist will lead quality assurance efforts for the Clinical Data Foundation program, focusing on testing and validating HL7 FHIR resources, automated UI and API testing, functional testing, and defect management. This role ensures the delivery of a scalable, cloud-native electronic health record platform that supports interoperability and data sharing within healthcare systems. Responsibilities:

• Analyze business and technical requirements to develop comprehensive test strategies, plans, cases, and automation scripts.
• Execute automated testing across multiple non-production environments supporting healthcare data integration systems.
• Validate HL7 FHIR R4 resources and Implementation Guide profiles for conformance, data quality, and interoperability.
• Test HL7 v2 to FHIR R4 mappings, transformations, and end-to-end data flows ensuring data integrity.
• Design, build, implement, and maintain automation testing frameworks and scripts for UI and API validation.
• Generate and manage complex test data using automation toolsets.
• Log, track, and manage defects using Jira and collaborate with cross-functional teams on quality assurance activities.
• Provide input on test effort estimation, support business acceptance, release readiness, and Go/No-Go decisions.
• Work within Agile Scrum and DevOps/CI/CD environments to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Mentor and train QA team members on automation frameworks, tools, and best practices.

• Minimum 7 years of experience testing large-scale enterprise backend applications and distributed systems.
• Advanced expertise in designing and implementing scalable UI automation frameworks using Selenium or Playwright with Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Strong programming skills in Java and/or modern scripting languages.
• Extensive experience in API and web service testing and automation (RESTful, SOAP) using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, ReadyAPI.
• Proven ability in end-to-end integration testing, API contract validation, database validation (SQL, Oracle, MySQL), and data integrity verification.
• Experience with authentication/authorization testing including OAuth, JWT, SAML, certificates.
• Strong functional testing skills including defect management in Jira and debugging test environments.
• Hands-on healthcare domain experience, preferably with HL7 FHIR and/or HL7 v2/v3 standards.
• Experience with Git source control and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for UI automation purposes.

• Healthcare interoperability experience with hands-on testing of HL7 FHIR messages and data structures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft ecosystems such as Power BI, Dynamics 365, and SharePoint.
• Experience with agile-scrum project delivery and tools like TestRail for test management.

• Work involves collaboration across multiple programs and teams including project managers, IT leads, and business analysts.
• Must adhere to Agile Scrum methodology and DevOps/CI/CD principles.
• Mentoring and training responsibilities for junior QA team members.
• Hybrid work location with flexibility as per manager discretion.
