Pyramid Global Hospitality is seeking a Kitchen Operations Manager for the World of Whirlpool, a dedicated training and conference center in Chicago. The role is focused on leading daily kitchen operations, working closely with the Executive Chef to maintain high quality, effective food cost control, and excellent guest service.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO
Lead the production and execution of the Kitchen and Culinary Team, overseeing daily functions, delegating staff meals, and managing food cost and quality standards. Collaborate with the Executive Chef to share a vision for team operation and employee development.BASIC FUNCTIONS
Assume leadership in kitchen production and execution. Maintain guest service commitment and employee development. Ensure highest quality while understanding food cost. Delegate daily staff meals and oversee cost and execution with supervising cooks. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE 2-3 years of experience in a kitchen supervisory role or higher. Culinary school or related experience in similar operations. High school diploma or equivalent experience/training. Meet city and state sanitation guidelines.FOOD PREPARATION & QUALITY CONTROL
Ensure all food meets established quality standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines. Monitor portion sizes and quality of ingredients to provide best possible dining experience. Conduct regular inspections of kitchen operations and food storage areas to maintain health and safety compliance.INVENTORY & SUPPLY MANAGEMENT
Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients. Monitor food and supply costs, ensuring cost‑effective use without compromising quality. Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and resolve supply issues.COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
Work closely with front‑of‑house staff, management, and other departments to ensure smooth communication and service. Address customer feedback related to food and kitchen service, making improvements where necessary. Assist in menu planning, costing, and development of special promotions or events.ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Maintain accurate records of food inventory, employee attendance, and performance. Prepare reports on kitchen performance, staff efficiency, and food cost analysis for management review. Assist in hiring and training new kitchen employees as required. Menu development and keen understanding of food cost. Knowledge of menu preparation, ordering, and production organization.OTHER DUTIES
Ability to transport, handle, and/or lift 100 lbs (kitchen equipment and food/non‑food items). Effective communication in English, with written and verbal directions; ability to read and write.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for all food requisition/ordering, delegation of storage and product rotation. Prepare, together with assigned cooks, food items designed by you and the Executive Chef to the standards and specifications of our operation. Consult with World of Whirlpool chefs, culinary and/or banquet team on duties regarding mise en place and food requisitioning for upcoming functions. Care for and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment; create weekly checklists and delegate tasks to the team. Dating and utilization of all fabricated food items before storage. Ensure stations are clean and all food items are properly covered and stored at shift end. Prepare weekly menus with the Executive Chef and Cook1. Supervise and participate in banquet events, as needed. Consult with the Executive Chef on daily and weekly banquet forecasts and special functions. Ensure banquet functions are properly broken down and reusable items are returned and put away properly. Monitor production and quality levels of all food products. Train, develop, and maintain employee skills, exemplifying a “Be the Difference” attitude. Develop and maintain ongoing education programs for sanitation and safety. Ensure showroom is always client‑ready with all displays and materials properly arranged and maintained. Compliance with company policies, safety standards, and best practices on showroom floor.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Respond to any reasonable task assigned by the Executive Chef or Management. Work any assigned shift/work schedule. Assist in other areas of the World of Whirlpool & First Floor Experience Center, as needed. Knowledge of kitchens and storage areas. Knowledge of use, cleaning, safe handling, and breakdown of all equipment. Receiving food requisitions and checking for food product quality and amount.ENVIRONMENT
Work may be performed in small areas with a two‑foot access; conditions include varying noise levels, temperature, illumination, and air quality. $65,000–$75,000 Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location.
