Certified Autotransfusionist/ Perfusion Assistant/clinical autotransfusionist , VA Medical Center, Gainesville, FL

We are hiring a Certified Autotransfusionist to support surgical blood management for veterans at a VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida.

This position is contingent upon contract award. It is a long-term role: a base year plus up to four option years. The anticipated start is January 2027, following VA credentialing.

What You’ll Do

\n
• Check the OR schedule daily for cases requiring autotransfusion
\n
• Set up and operate the autotransfusion (cell saver) pump for non-open-heart surgical procedures
\n
• Record surgical time and the volume of autotransfused blood delivered to Anesthesiology for each case
\n
• Break down disposables after each procedure
\n
• Keep at least four complete supply sets ready for open heart and autotransfusion cases, and notify Logistics of supply needs
\n
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repair for VA-owned perfusion equipment, and keep service records
\n

Schedule

\n
• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week, 2,080 hours/year)

What You Bring

\n
• Current Autotransfusionist certification, with continuing education up to date
\n
• 10+ years of autotransfusion experience
\n
• Individual NPI number and current BLS
\n
• Fluent written and spoken English
\n
• Ability to pass:
\n
• – VA credentialing
\n
• – a federal background investigation
\n
• – E-Verify
\n
• – OIG exclusion screening
\n
• Proof of immunizations: TB, MMR, varicella, Tdap, annual flu, and Hepatitis B
\n
• ABCP certification is a plus
\n
