Help position and prepare patient for surgical procedure. This includes positioning the patient for the surgical procedure, tourniquet application when necessary, and assisting with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field. Maintain highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure. Participate in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure. Secure tubing, cords and other sterile accessories. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedure. Hold retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon. Sponges or suction the operative site. Cut suture material as directed by the surgeon. Assist surgeon with suturing of incision site. Apply post-operative dressing, splint/cast when necessary, or any DME items requested by the surgeon. Perform other related duties as assigned. Hours Hours will vary depending on scheduled cases. Taking call will be a requirement. Certifications Must have active National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) CST certification or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C). Education Required: High School or better. Preferred: Associates or better. Preferred: Technical/other training or better. Experience 1 year in clinical setting. 1 year in operating room space.
