Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or technical training from an accredited ophthalmic program preferred.

Certifications

• BLS from AHA
• One of the following certifications is required (All certifications must be issued through JCAHPO):

1. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
2. Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
3. Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT)

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of Ophthalmic Technician experience required.
• Experience performing refractions and ophthalmic diagnostic testing required.
