Job Summary:

We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined CO₂ Tank Repair Shop Technician to inspect, service, repair, and prepare carbon dioxide cylinders and related equipment for safe return to service.

This is a hands-on shop position involving compressed-gas cylinders, valves, regulators, fittings, and related components. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, comfortable using hand and power tools, able to follow established procedures, and willing to learn industry and regulatory requirements.

Job Description:

  • Inspect CO₂ cylinders for visible damage, corrosion, wear, contamination, and other conditions that may affect safe operation.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble cylinder valves and related components as authorized by company procedures.
  • Remove and replace valves, O-rings, seals, fittings, and other serviceable components.
  • Clean and prepare cylinders for repair, testing, filling, painting, labeling, or return to service.
  • Perform leak checks and other required inspections after repair or assembly.
  • Inspect valve threads and cylinder connections for damage or excessive wear.
  • Identify cylinders or components that should be removed from service or referred for additional testing.
  • Safely depressurize and handle cylinders according to established procedures.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, gauges, and shop equipment safely and correctly.
  • Follow required torque specifications, repair procedures, and quality-control processes.
  • Maintain accurate inspection, repair, and service records.
  • Apply or verify required labels, markings, and identification.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Load, unload, move, and properly secure cylinders throughout the shop.
  • Follow company safety policies and applicable compressed-gas and hazardous-material handling requirements.
  • Report damaged, questionable, or nonconforming cylinders and equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist with cylinder inventory, receiving, shipping, and general shop operations as needed.

Competencies:

  • Mechanical, industrial, welding, automotive, equipment-repair, or compressed-gas experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read work instructions, equipment specifications, safety information, and inspection procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a shop team.
  • Ability to recognize damaged or unsafe equipment and stop work when a safety concern is identified.
  • Basic computer or paperwork skills for documenting inspections and repairs.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to regularly handle and maneuver compressed-gas cylinders using proper equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive shop tasks throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in a production/shop environment that may include noise, dust, temperature changes, and exposure to industrial equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety footwear.

Safety & Compliance

Because this position involves high-pressure compressed-gas cylinders, safety is a primary responsibility. The technician must follow company procedures and all applicable requirements governing cylinder inspection, handling, repair, testing, storage, transportation, and documentation.
