We invest in our people and our business.The Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable is an important member of the Accounting team responsible for performing advanced accounts payable functions while supporting broader accounting activities. This position plays a key role in resolving complex accounting issues, leading the company's corporate credit card process, preparing reports and account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities. While this position does not currently have direct reports, it is expected to provide leadership, guidance, and technical support to the Accounts Payable team and offers the opportunity for future career advancement within the Accounting department.Responsibilities:Develop and maintain expert knowledge of all Accounts Payable processes to serve as the department's primary resource for complex transactions, troubleshooting, and process improvements.Provide support and backup for high-volume vendor invoice processing as needed, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with purchase orders and company policies.Serve as the primary resource for complex invoice, purchase order, and payment issues, researching and resolving discrepancies while partnering with internal departments and vendors.Review vendor statement process and assist in resolving escalated billing and payment issues.Oversee the resolution of EDI transaction exceptions, working with internal teams and vendors to ensure transactions are processed accurately and timely.Assist with Accounts Payable processing during periods of high volume, employee absences, or other business needs to ensure continuity of operations.Take a lead role in the company's corporate credit card program, including reviewing reconciliations, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting the Accounts Payable team as needed.Serve as the primary point of contact for the Accounting email inbox, ensuring vendor inquiries, documentation requests, and payment-related issues are addressed promptly, accurately, and in accordance with company policies.Requirements:High School Diploma requiredAssociate degree in Accounting or equivalent3+ years of experience in a high-volume business-to-business Accounts Payable positionMust have a stable and progressive work historyCritical Skills:Excellent data entry skills emphasizing speed and accuracyPrior experience working with ERP systems and Excel. Profit 21 experience a plusBasic understanding of accounting principles and general ledger chart of accountsAbility to effectively interact, both verbally and written, with employees and vendors in a professional mannerDetail-oriented, organized, and reliable work habitsAbility to perform math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractionsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilitiesStrong values and ethicsDirect Reports:NoneAdditional Responsibilities:As assignedWorking Environment:Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing, walking, lifting (overhead, waist level), bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.Regular and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this position.
