This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.We are seeking a skilled Composites Technician who will contribute technical expertise and full lifecycle ownership of composite manufacturing, from layup through mechanical integration. This role is vital to the success of Blue Origin’s spaceflight operations, ensuring composite hardware is produced to the highest quality standards. The Composites Technician will set up production work areas, operate precision equipment, and implement continuous improvement initiatives, supporting safe, efficient, and reliable human spaceflight through meticulous management of composite manufacturing processes.**Position Specific Details:*** Shifts: **A |** Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm) / **B |** Mon-Fri (2pm-10:30pm) / **C |** Fri-Sun (6am-6:30pm)* Location: Space Coast, FL* Relocation: Not Available**Key Responsibilities*** Prepare production work areas with necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize potential delays during transitions to high-rate composite manufacturing.* Perform layup, bagging, curing, trimming, drilling, and assembly of composite components, strictly following blueprints, specifications, and industry best practices.* Integrate composite hardware into vehicles and subsystems, ensuring proper fit, finish, and mechanical integrity throughout the lifecycle.* Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, optical instruments) to maintain rigorous safety and quality standards in composite operations.* Lead and support continuous improvement projects targeting safety, quality, and efficiency within the composite manufacturing and integration process.* Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and routine maintenance of composite hardware and shop equipment, ensuring operational readiness for production and development activities.* Maintain clean, organized work areas in adherence to 5S principles, promoting safety, reliability, and operational performance.* Execute application of specialty materials including adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets on composite structures and hardware.* Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve design, integration, and production challenges.* Document process steps, inspections, test results, and anomalies in accordance with quality standards and operational procedures.* Support transition from development of new composite processes to full-scale production, actively participating in process validation and improvement efforts.* Participate in training, emergency response, and critical operations as needed to ensure team readiness for all scenarios.**Team Focus & Domain Expertise**Composites Technicians at Blue Origin are responsible for all aspects of composite manufacturing and integration, from initial layup to final assembly and testing. You’ll be hands-on in fabrication, handling large structural aerospace components, operating precision measurement instruments, and contributing to continuous improvement. Your work supports both spacecraft and launch vehicle payload accommodations, integrating mission-critical hardware into the world’s most advanced human spaceflight systems.**Minimum Qualifications*** Experience in aerospace manufacturing, composite fabrication, integration, or related technical field (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician, 8+ Sr Level Technician)* Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and specifications* Proficiency with precision calibration tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, and optical measurement devices* Hands-on experience with adhesives, sealants, paints, primers, and thermal blankets in composite applications* Perform Composite layup such as: Carbon Pre-Preg, Carbon fibers, Fiberglass, and Hand Layups* Carbon composites cutting and drilling operations* Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs and working at heights and/or in confined spaces as required* Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications* Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality**Preferred Qualifications*** Industry certifications, trade school training, or degree in a related technical field* Operate or support large, specialized equipment such as Roll Wrap machines, large ovens, robotic operations, or trim and drill equipment* Demonstrated success leading or supporting complex integration tasks in composite manufacturing* Experience with curing processes and production control systems* Experience in clean room manufacturing environments and maintaining clean environments (5S)* Experience with high-rate manufacturing methods and cycle times* Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification* Experience with new product introduction and process optimization for production scale-up* Proven continuous improvement mindset and initiative for optimizing manufacturing operations* Willingness to work overtime, responding flexibly to production and schedule needs* Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills within technical teams**Culture Statement**Don’t meet all desired requirements?
