Job Summary The Program Support Assistant I, Driver will assist with transporting clients enrolled to and from Day Programs on a fixed route, as well as assisting with community integration activities into the community. These activities include client interaction such as assisting with feeding, daily games/exercises, etc. When performing this task, the incumbent will provide transportation services to our clients. Transportation (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Exhibit sound judgment when speaking with and assisting clients. Pick up and drop off clients from their home and deliver them to and from the Day Program in a safe and timely manner. Alter route according to the daily pick‑up schedule, adjusting for the safest and most efficient course. Read and understand maps, use a GPS, and follow all rules and regulations driving in the State of Colorado. Drive clients to and from community activities throughout the week. Van Maintenance and Safety Maintain vehicle’s interior and exterior cleanliness. Ensure all clients use seat belts at all times and assist clients on and off the van. Maintain fuel tank at least half full at all times. Tracking and Reporting Conduct and document the vehicle inspection sheet prior to operating and report any deficiencies to the supervisor immediately. Maintain a working knowledge of vehicle accident reporting. Relationship Management Communicate effectively with clients, co‑workers, and staff personnel. Engage and maintain conversations that encourage independence and respect. Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor. Qualifications Education A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience One (1) year of experience driving a 14‑passenger van is preferred. Other Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with clients that may have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, cognitive disorders, learning disorders, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease. Must be willing to be certified in CPR and first aid at Goodwill’s expense. Maintain a professional attitude, appropriate hygiene, dress/grooming and be punctual/dependable. Comfortable driving in inclement weather. Occasional overtime may be required. Must be able to drive for company business. Must meet age requirements for Goodwill driver insurance schedule: 19 years for non‑passenger transportation. 25‑70 years for all passenger transportation services. 21 years for CDL. Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years). Must have a valid Colorado State driver license and be able to operate company vehicle, adhering to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.
