Senior Cost Accountant

LHH is partnering with a well-established and highly respected manufacturing organization in Edina seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join its Finance team. This is a newly created position driven by company growth and increasing business demands. This is an exciting opportunity for a manufacturing accounting professional who enjoys partnering with plant operations, analyzing inventory and cost drivers, and providing financial insights that influence business decisions. The successful candidate will play a key role supporting multiple manufacturing facilities while working closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership. Newly created position due to company growth and increasing business needs Highly visible role with direct exposure to Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership Opportunity to serve as the primary cost accounting resource for a major manufacturing facility Exposure to multiple manufacturing locations and enterprise-wide initiatives Hands-on involvement with inventory, costing, forecasting, and operational decision support Strong partnership with plant leadership and cross-functional teams Hybrid work schedule with flexibility and limited travel Opportunity to contribute to reporting improvements, process optimization, and systems initiatives Collaborative team environment with strong leadership support Ability to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary cost accounting partner supporting manufacturing operations Manage inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliations, and physical inventory processes Prepare and analyze material, labor, and overhead variances Partner with plant leadership to provide actionable financial insights and recommendations Support monthly close activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations Contribute to annual planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities Analyze manufacturing performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve financial and operational results Support reporting enhancements, process improvements, and special projects Assist with inventory transaction flow analysis and materials reporting Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of manufacturing cost accounting or related manufacturing finance experience Strong understanding of inventory accounting, inventory valuation, and cost accounting principles Experience supporting manufacturing plants and partnering with operations teams Strong knowledge of US GAAP Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Experience with ERP systems; Oracle experience preferred Exposure to reporting and analytics tools such as Tableau, Access, or similar platforms preferred CPA or CMA certification preferred Ideal Candidate Hands‑on manufacturing accounting professional with strong cost accounting expertise Experience supporting plant operations in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory controls, and variance analysis Analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into meaningful business insights Comfortable partnering with leaders across Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain Proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment Strong communication skills and ability to influence across functions Self‑motivated professional who enjoys ownership and accountability Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
