DATA CENTER FIBER TECHNICIAN

Fiber Splicing • Furcation • Testing • Data Center Infrastructure

Sharp Cable is expanding our data center fiber operations and is looking for motivated Fiber Optic Technicians to join our team.

This is an opportunity to work on  large-scale, mission-critical data center projects while developing specialized skills in fiber optic installation, fusion splicing, furcation, and fiber testing.

Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidates. If you have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a desire to build a career in the rapidly growing data center industry, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Perform fiber optic cable preparation and  furcation
• Prepare fibers for fusion splicing, including stripping, cleaning, cleaving, and organization
• Perform  fusion splicing , including high-count and ribbon fiber applications
• Build and organize splice trays and fiber management systems
• Perform fiber testing using  OTDR, power meter, and other fiber testing equipment
• Perform end-face inspection and fiber cleaning
• Identify and troubleshoot fiber loss, splice issues, and other fiber-related problems
• Maintain accurate splice records, test results, and project documentation
• Follow strict data center quality-control and installation standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Work as part of a professional fiber construction team to meet production and project deadlines

WORK SCHEDULE

2 Weeks ON / 1 Week OFF

• 12-hour shifts
• Extended project assignments
• Travel-based data center work
• Overtime opportunities based on project requirements
• Work locations may vary depending on project assignments

This schedule provides the opportunity to work a concentrated project rotation while having a  full week off between rotations.

TRAINING & CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Don't have fiber experience? That's okay.

Sharp Cable is willing to train candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, work ethic, and ability to learn.

Training may include:

• Fiber optic fundamentals
• Cable preparation and furcation
• Fiber stripping and cleaving
• Fusion splicing
• Ribbon fiber splicing
• Splice tray organization
• OTDR testing
• Power-meter testing
• Fiber inspection and cleaning
• Fiber troubleshooting
• Data center installation standards

Experienced technicians will have the opportunity to advance into  Senior Fiber Technician, Lead Splicer, Testing Technician, and Supervisor positions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Ideal candidates have:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Construction, electrical, telecommunications, low-voltage, or fiber experience
• Ability to work with precision tools and small components
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
• Willingness to travel for extended project assignments
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts
• Ability to work safely in an active construction/data center environment
• Valid driver's license preferred

Fiber experience is a plus — but attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are just as important.
