Maintenance Superintendent - Direct

Location: Pasadena, TX Employment Type: Direct Hire – Long Term Compensation: Dependent on Experience (DOE) Benefits: PTO, Health Benefits, and 401(k) Overview The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading and overseeing the safe, efficient execution of all maintenance activities for the client site. This role ensures work is completed in alignment with schedules, identifies and drives process improvements, and ensures accurate and timely documentation of maintenance and reliability data. This position plays a key leadership role in maintaining operational reliability, minimizing downtime, and fostering a strong safety culture. The Maintenance Superintendent reports to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager and may serve as a backup when required. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Execution Lead and direct maintenance teams in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, ensuring alignment with safety, reliability, and business objectives. Oversee daily execution of maintenance work and communicate schedule deviations and operational impacts. Promote continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and implementing standardized solutions. Ensure optimal utilization of internal and contract resources. Support development and execution of turnaround and outage activities, including scope, scheduling, and resource planning. Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Champion a strong safety culture by leading through example and ensuring strict adherence to all policies and procedures. Monitor contractor and vendor compliance through field presence and audits. Proactively prevent environmental incidents and ensure safe work practices at all times. Reliability & Maintenance Performance Partner with Operations and Maintenance leadership to establish and execute weekly maintenance schedules. Drive initiatives that improve long-term asset reliability and plant performance. Support investigation and resolution of equipment reliability issues in collaboration with engineering teams. Oversee maintenance involvement in outages, including planning, execution, and startup support. Financial & Budget Management Assist in development and management of the maintenance operating budget. Ensure cost‑effective allocation of resources while maintaining asset reliability and integrity. Team Development Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to supervisors and maintenance personnel. Identify skill gaps and develop training and career growth plans for team members. Drive accountability and performance management across the team. Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (mandatory) 7–10 years of experience in a chemical plant or manufacturing environment 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience Technical Skills Strong knowledge of SAP and maintenance workflow processes Experience with rotating equipment (centrifugal pumps, PD pumps, compressors, turbomachinery, etc.) Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Project, etc.) Working knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, and work execution processes Preferred Experience supporting turnarounds, outages, or large maintenance events Planning and scheduling experience within an industrial environment Core Competencies Strong safety leadership and commitment to zero incidents Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams in time‑sensitive situations Results‑driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability High mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving capability Performance Metrics High asset reliability and maintenance efficiency Preventive maintenance compliance Budget adherence Continuous improvement initiatives Safety performance and incident prevention #J-18808-Ljbffr Kap Project Services
