Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

Qualifications

Certifications: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (ARMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AMT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT); Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AAH) - American Allied Health (AAH), Education: H.S. Diploma/GED, Work Experience: Customer service

Responsibilities

Rooming patients: Collecting pertinent information regarding the patient's chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival for a patient visit. Telephone Interactions: As directed, completing necessary telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and/or other health care facilities. Gathering information and maintaining patient information via telephone per department specific processes and policies. Administrative tasks including, but not limited to, patient check in or check out, prior authorizations, scheduling appointments, verification of benefits, and coordination of referrals and testing. Office procedures as directed and per department specific competencies. May perform procedures such as suture or staple removal as directed by a provider or nursing staff. Provide patient with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, or follow up instructions at the direction of the provider. CMA staff may retrieve and provide condition specific education from the internet, internal website, or printed materials per the provider directions and orders. Administer medications per the provider order. Provide assistance with prescription medication refills per department protocols. Call medications into pharmacies, notify patients of refills, and documents actions within the EMR per provider orders. Maintain department specific competencies related to equipment handling and specialty training. Assist physicians with office-based procedures, including appropriate documentation Suture and/or staple removal under the direction of the RN Collects and process patient specimens correctly Enters patient medical history and medication reconciliation into each patient's medical record Assemble and tear down Ultrasound probe and equipment along with high level disinfecting of it. Administer injections within the CMA scope of practice under the direction of the MD

The compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour - $29.69per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
