Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Telemetry unit managing diagnoses including chest pain, CAD, stroke, TIA, atrial fibrillation, COPD exacerbation, GI bleed, and wound infections
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, identify and manage dysrhythmias, and administer cardiac drips (not titrated for blood pressure)
• Care for pre- and post-angiogram/angioplasty patients; assist with procedures including PPM/AICD, chest tube management, central line catheter care, and wound debridement
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including telemetry monitoring systems, chest tubes, and wound vacs
• Support patients undergoing general surgical procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, and appendectomy
• Respond to facility emergency events as directed by unit management, which may include remaining on-site until an event resolves or serving on a relief team

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license – Compact or Louisiana license required and must be in hand at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
• Hands-on telemetry experience
• BLS certification (AHA required)
• NURSYS report must be current (within 4 weeks of submission date)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (AHA)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
