Respiratory Thought Leader Liaison - North Central Region

Overview As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to patients and visitors as you transport them throughout the hospital and clinic. Your role ensures patients receive the care they need in a timely and safe manner. Shift Schedule A caregiver works variable shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm or 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, with rotating weekends. Holiday requirements may include the three main holidays observed by Cleveland Clinic. Responsibilities Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment. Transfer patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, or stretchers. Transport patients during discharge to the hospital lobby. Ensure proper oxygen levels in tanks before transporting patients. Approach and aid patients and visitors. Verify and confirm standard precautions and correct patient identification by comparing information from the pager and patient wristband to obtain the correct medical chart and verify proper mode of transportation. Disinfect and maintain equipment. Perform environmental and safety checks, identify malfunctioning equipment, document findings and report on malfunctioning equipment. Move and deliver equipment and linen carts. Complete three months of on‑the‑job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients. Minimum Qualifications Organizational, decisive judgment, problem solving, communications, good customer service skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Can handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions as needed. Requires completion of three months of on‑the‑job training and orientation to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures and patient emergency and safety procedures, and proper body mechanics necessary to safely move patients. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Physical Requirements Requires full range of body motion including handling of patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye/hand coordination. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working with some exposure to communicable disease. Ability to move/transport up to or more than 100 lbs. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
