Reading Tutor Hiring Department: Special Education Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 19 FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt Earliest Start Date: Immediately Position Duration: Expected to continue until August 31, 2024 Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Purpose The Reading Tutor will serve as a reading intervention teacher for grade 4–8 students as part of a federally funded research project in the Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk at The University of Texas at Austin. The role includes teaching daily reading lessons using a structured program, documenting daily activities, and planning for differentiated instruction. Reading intervention will be delivered daily to students on school campuses in Eanes ISD, Elgin ISD, Lake Travis ISD, and Rock ISD. Responsibilities Prepare for and teach daily reading intervention to individual students in a one‑on‑one setting using a structured program with high fidelity and quality Plan for differentiation of instruction Complete and submit requested documentation on student progress, tutoring effort, and mileage Attend team meetings and maintain communication with project supervisor Participate in ongoing coaching Required Qualifications At least two years of prior experience working with children Daily access to transportation to campuses in Eanes ISD, Elgin ISD, Lake Travis ISD, and Rock ISD Daily availability during regular school hours Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education or similar field Daily access to transportation to campuses in Eanes ISD, Elgin ISD, Lake Travis ISD, and Rock ISD Daily availability during regular school hours Hourly Rate $20 plus depending upon qualifications Working Conditions Typical school campus environment Required Materials Resume/CV Three work references with contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisor Letter of interest Important for Applicants Who Are NOT Current University Employees or Contingent Workers You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new resume for subsequent applications.
