Clear Thought Transportation is seeking qualified, dependable, and personable CDL Class C Ambulette Drivers to join our growing Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) team.

We're not looking for someone who simply drives from Point A to Point B. We're looking for professionals who understand that every passenger deserves safe transportation, respect, patience, and maybe even a good laugh along the way!

Our drivers transport passengers to dialysis treatments, medical appointments, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and other healthcare services throughout Dutchess County and surrounding communities.

Safety, punctuality, professionalism, and excellent customer service are our top priorities.

Required Qualifications

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING:

• Valid New York State Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) — REQUIRED.
• Passenger (P) Endorsement — REQUIRED.
• Acceptable driving record.
• Ability to meet applicable NYSDOT and company driver qualification standards.
• Ability to complete required background checks, medical examinations, and applicable drug and alcohol testing.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to safely operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a professional attitude.

Applicants must already possess the required CDL and Passenger Endorsement to be considered.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position, not just a driving job!

Qualified applicants must be able to:

• Safely push, pull, and maneuver occupied wheelchairs with a combined passenger and wheelchair weight of 400+ lbs , using proper techniques and appropriate equipment.
• Assist wheelchair passengers on ramps, inclines, and varying surfaces.
• Safely operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement equipment.
• Perform frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Assist passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles.
• Recognize situations where additional assistance or equipment is necessary.

Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Drivers are never expected to manually lift 400 lbs or perform unsafe passenger transfers.

Job Responsibilities

• Transport passengers safely and on time to scheduled medical appointments.
• Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate passenger assistance.
• Safely load, unload, and secure wheelchair passengers.
• Perform required vehicle inspections before and after trips.
• Maintain clean, safe, and professional vehicles.
• Follow assigned transportation schedules and dispatch instructions.
• Communicate professionally with passengers, families, facilities, and dispatch.
• Follow applicable transportation regulations and company policies.
• Maintain passenger privacy and confidentiality.

Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available!

Because medical transportation schedules depend on passenger appointments, our work hours can change.

• Variable daily start and end times.
• Early morning availability may be necessary.
• Shift lengths and weekly hours may vary with transportation demand.
• Flexibility to accommodate changing assignments is important.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Important: This position requires flexible availability. Drivers do not independently select their hours, and specific schedules depend on operational needs.
