Unit Capacity: 260-280 beds

Position Overview

This position involves working 12-hour shifts within a rotating schedule, requiring every other weekend commitment and availability for applicable holidays. NICU experience is essential for this role.

Patient Types

• Pediatric Critical Care
• Neonatal Critical Care
• General Inpatient Respiratory Care

Candidates must be prepared to care for NICU patients as needed. NRP certification is required.

Required Certifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - CRT will not be considered.
• South Dakota RCP License (SDBMOE.gov) - must be obtained prior to submission.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS are mandatory.
• NRP certification required for those working in NICU.

Required Education

• Associate's Degree in a related field.

Skills Required

• Critical care experience.
• General respiratory care experience.

Support on the Unit

The team includes Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialists available 24/7, along with Supervisors, a Manager, and a Director for support.

• EPIC (mandatory)

• Draeger V500 and Savina 300 ventilators
• 3100A Oscillator
• Hamilton C1/MRI
• ResMed APAP, CPAP, Bi-level systems
• Airvo2 High Flow devices
• Cough Assist and Incourage Vest
• ABL90 Blood Gas Machines
• IPV and Praxair iNO

Floating Policy

Coverage will include the entire hospital and emergency department. Floating to other facilities is not expected unless specifically hired for that purpose.

Orientation and Training

Successful candidates will undergo orientation at the Respiratory Care Department in Rapid City.

Scheduling and Availability

Weekends are scheduled for every other weekend. The role may include on-call responsibilities depending on department needs. Candidates must be available to work holidays falling within the contract dates. Requests for time off up to seven days may be accommodated if the department allows. Notable restrictions are in place during significant local events.
