Job Summary GE’s Onshore wind power capacity is growing fast and will continue to rise. The Wind Technician role is a critical, daily‑operational position that maintains optimal turbine function and output. The Technician works closely with Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements, ensuring alignment with GE excellence. Responsibilities Work with site & hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements on a daily basis, covering electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators. Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable‑pitch and variable‑speed turbines. Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements. Perform diagnostic electrical analysis. Document all work using computer‑based service reporting procedures. Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary. Qualifications and Requirements High School Diploma or GED plus 1+ year experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years electrical work experience. Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment and basic computer skills. Valid driver’s license. Handle repetitive weight up to 50lbs. and climb towers up to 300ft daily; meet manufacturer weight limits without exceeding 300lbs including required gear. Ability to work in a variety of environments (industrial, manufacturing, power industry). Effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations. Initiative, work without direct supervision, flexibility to work rotating shift schedules, on‑call per site needs, occasional overnights. Desired Characteristics Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field. Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field. Experience with heavy equipment maintenance, crane and rigging requirements. Work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm. Experience using hydraulic power tools and familiar with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Compensation Hourly range: $31.68 to $42.20, influenced by experience, education, and work location.
