JOB LOCATION: Lincolnshire, IL JOB TYPE: Temp to Hire PAY: $18/Hr. 1ST SHIFT: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Monday - Friday) About the Material Handler Role: The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, and packing spare parts in accordance with standard procedures and order-specific instructions, under general supervision.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Transport materials from receiving or storage areas to shipping or designated locations; unpack crates and containers as neededLoad outbound shipments, ensuring materials are properly packaged and stacked to prevent damageAssist with ongoing cycle counts and annual physical inventory processesComply with warehouse quality control standards and proceduresOperate forklifts safely, ensuring all loads are stable and secureMaintain a clean and organized work environment, including sweeping, dusting, and moppingFollow all safety protocols, departmental procedures, and corporate policiesJob Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to follow standard work instructions with reliability and punctualityStrong multitasking and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentFlexible and adaptable approach to changing assignments and prioritiesProficient in English, both written and verbal, with effective communication skillsSolid math skills and understanding of weights and measuresBasic proficiency in word processing and spreadsheetsStrong working knowledge of computerized inventory systemsExperience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and managementEducation and Training:High school diploma or equivalent required3–5 years of warehouse experience, including proficiency with computerized inventory tracking systemsPhysical Demands:Prolonged periods of walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and occasional sittingFrequent pushing, pulling, lifting, and moving of objects up to 50 poundsManual dexterity for repetitive hand, finger, and wrist movementsCapable of climbing step ladders up to 15 feetAbility to operate a vehicle as neededWork Environment:Primarily based in a warehouse setting, with exposure to varying temperaturesRegular exposure to vibrations, fumes, gases, and moving mechanical equipmentOccasional handling of potentially hazardous chemicals or substancesNoise levels range from moderate to very loud, depending on tasks and equipment usedTools and Equipment:Operates equipment, including forklift trucks, hand pallet jacks, label machines, packing machines, computers, and calculatorsSteel-toed safety shoes must be worn at all times while in the warehouseCome join the SMS team!
