Mechanical Engineer – Product Development

Northwest Louisiana | $125K–$160K Base

We’re recruiting for a privately owned oilfield equipment manufacturer in Northwest Louisiana that is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its product development team.

This is not a maintenance-engineering role and it is not a position where you’ll spend your career making minor revisions to someone else’s drawings.

The company designs and manufactures its own engineered mechanical products, and this engineer will ultimately be involved in taking products from concept → design → prototype → testing → manufacturing → field use .

The company has been in business for more than 40 years, is financially strong, privately owned, and continues to invest heavily in engineering, manufacturing capability, and new product development.

Engineers work directly with company leadership and the people responsible for designing and building the products.

There are no layers of corporate bureaucracy between an engineering idea and the people who can actually approve, manufacture, test, and implement it.

You’ll be involved in:

• Mechanical product design and development
• 3D CAD / SolidWorks
• Engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Design calculations and analysis
• Prototyping and testing
• Design for manufacturability
• Machining, fabrication, materials, tolerances, and GD&T
• Product improvement and failure analysis
• Manufacturing and field support
• Engineering procedures, standards, and documentation
• New product development from concept through production

Initially, part of the role will involve learning the company’s existing products while supporting engineering documentation, drawings, procedures, manuals, and manufacturing needs.

As product knowledge develops, the role will increasingly move into new product design and development.

Who we’re looking for

We are much more interested in finding a strong mechanical designer than someone who simply happens to have worked in oil & gas.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• Oilfield equipment
• Downhole tools
• Valves and flow-control equipment
• Pressure-containing equipment
• Hydraulics
• Heavy equipment
• Agricultural equipment
• Construction or mining equipment
• Pumps or rotating equipment
• Industrial machinery
• Automotive / powersports
• Custom machinery or engineered products

What matters most is that you have designed real mechanical products that had to be manufactured, assembled, tested, and used in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Ideally 7+ years of mechanical design or product-development experience
• Strong 3D CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred
• Experience taking products or mechanical systems from design into production
• Understanding of machining, fabrication, materials, tolerancing, and GD&T
• Experience with FEA, hydraulics, pressure equipment, heavy mechanical systems, or similar technologies is a plus
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering problems
• Comfortable working directly with manufacturing, operations, and company leadership

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $125,000–$160,000, depending on experience

The position is based in the Shreveport area of Northwest Louisiana .
