MRI Technologist

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging scans to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role requires operating MRI equipment efficiently, ensuring patient comfort and safety, and coordinating with physicians to deliver timely diagnostic results. The technologist must maintain a clean and safe scanning environment and document procedures accurately while adhering to patient confidentiality standards. This position requires specialized knowledge, certification, and experience in MRI technology, including injection certification and familiarity with GE scanners. Responsibilities:

  • Operate MRI machines to perform diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Prepare and position patients for MRI scans, explaining procedures to alleviate concerns.
  • Insert intravenous lines when necessary for contrast administration during imaging.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of the scanning facility and equipment.
  • Coordinate with physicians to ensure timely receipt and accuracy of imaging results.
  • Document all procedures and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Perform patient care tasks as needed during imaging sessions.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Associate degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiology.
  • Current NYS Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
  • Injection certification for MRI contrast administration.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • Experience operating GE MRI scanners.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and familiarity with medical terminology.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system within the last year.
Special Considerations:
  • Must be willing to work overnight shifts Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
  • On-call and callback duties as required by unit needs.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety standards.
  • Must be willing to obtain any required certifications post-hire if not currently held.
Scheduling:
  • Overnight shift schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
  • Holiday work, on-call, and callback shifts as needed.
