Job Highlights Sign‑On Bonus up to $20,000 Schedule: Full‑time, 36 Hours/Week, 3x12‑Hour Shifts/Week Shift Differentials: Available for weekends and additional shifts RRT Required, Missouri Licensure Only qualified external candidates are eligible for the sign‑on bonus and relocation programs Job Summary The respiratory therapist is a healthcare professional employed to perform all respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures provided by the Department of Respiratory Care. The ideal candidate is energetic, motivated, and able to support the success of a growing service while following supervisory guidance when necessary. Responsibilities Provide therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care in accordance with department policies and procedures. Implement and assess oxygen and therapeutic gases; set up and manage therapeutic and diagnostic equipment. Administer aerosolized medication, and perform CPT and IPV as indicated. Set up and monitor ventilators in compliance with hospital policies. Communicate with peers and staff to improve inter‑departmental services. Perform CPR and other emergency procedures. Conduct diagnostic testing: ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, nitric oxide studies, and other requisite tests. Assess and reassess patients before and after therapy, including vital signs, breath sounds, oxygen requirements, and sputum characteristics. Respond to critical areas (ER, OR, code), perform routine checks on life support units, and assist with bronchoscopy and other invasive procedures. Perform bedside pulmonary function studies and other complex laboratory interpretations. Participate in monthly meetings, maintain accurate records, and adhere to safety and infection‑control policies. Provide quality‑improvement activities, including data collection, charting, and reporting of issues. Deliver age‑appropriate care for patients ranging from infants to geriatric populations. Assist in restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment procedures. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including proper disposal of hazardous waste. Complete other duties assigned by the department as required. Qualifications Graduate of an AMA‑approved school in Respiratory Therapy. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care; Missouri license within 6 months of hire. Minimum leadership experience desirable; demonstrated ability to make independent decisions in both critical and non‑critical care areas. Demonstrated ability to provide high‑quality therapy with moderate supervision. Proficiency in patient assessment, therapeutic gas implementation, ventilator management, and respiratory diagnostics. Strong communication skills with physicians, nurses, and patients. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., perform prolonged standing/walking, and respond to emergencies. Understanding of infection control, safety policies, and occupational hazards associated with respiratory therapy. Professional Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Respiratory Care Practitioner – Missouri Division of Professional Registration Physical & Vision Requirements Heavy physical effort: lifting, carrying up to 50 lbs.; prolonged standing, walking, and frequent reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for equipment handling. Ability to adjust vision for varying light conditions.
