Chamberlain Machine is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Quality Control Technician responsible for inspecting precision machined parts, conducting quality assessments, and maintaining documentation of inspection results to ensure that our CNC machined parts maintain the highest level of quality.
The successful candidate will have the experience necessary to select and set up appropriate measurement equipment to verify manufactured products against drawing requirements.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct quality inspections on incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to determine conformance to defined specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, symbols, and job documentation to ensure all customer requirements and quality standards are met
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (CMMs, calipers, micrometers, gauges, pins, etc.) to check dimensions, tolerances, and other specifications
- Identify and document non-conformances to defined specifications
- Work closely with the production team, engineers, and management to identify and resolve quality issues in a timely manner
- Create and maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and compliance status
- Prepare customer documentation packages
- Document supplier quality issues and communicate directly with suppliers related to inspection results, supplier returns, and/or corrective actions
- Support 5S activities and continuous improvement efforts
- Interact constructively with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule
- May be asked to assist with audits and other quality department duties as necessary
Position Authorities
- Purchased direct materials approval
- First article approval
- In-process product quality approval
- Final product quality approval
- Terminate the processing or delivery of nonconforming product
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years previous QC inspection experience, preferably in a machine shop
- The ability to read and interpret customer drawings, including proficient understanding and interpretation of GD&T.
- Working knowledge of inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, pins, etc.).
- Prior programming and operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines.
- The ability to independently conduct first article, in-process, and final inspection processes confirming compliance to defined specifications in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with basic mathematics and use of a calculator.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
- General knowledge of CAD/CAM software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Intricate nature of work requires vision of 20/20 with or without corrective lenses
- Quality Management System (QMS) understanding a plus
- Experience with the following is preferred but not required:
- Mitutoyo CMM with MCOSMOS software
- E2 JobBoss2 shop management software
- MeasurLink Data Management and SPC software
