Job Title Security Officer Position Details Shift: Night (United States of America). Work hours: 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. Workdays: Friday–Tuesday. Off days: Wednesday–Thursday. Location: 5101 Willow Springs Rd, La Grange, IL 60525. Acknowledge and respond to alarms, determine the source, and provide proper assistance. Utilize and maintain all issued and operated equipment, including radio equipment, and comply with all applicable laws, department policies, and procedures. Provide initial direction and support in emergency situations, perform facility lockdowns, and screen visitors and employees seeking entry after hours. Document all crimes, incidents, and safety‑related irregularities per department policy and procedure. Assess situations with consideration for the age of individuals involved, gather information pertaining to incidents such as thefts and accidents, and accurately complete appropriate documents in the correct format. Intercede in disputes, both physical and verbal, using verbal de‑escalation techniques, and manage aggressive behavior utilizing authorized training techniques. Administer initial first aid as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read accurately and comprehend, write clearly, and understand in a manner to effectively complete legal reports, narratives, and follow simple directions. [Required] Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, penal codes, vehicular codes, radio codes, reports, memos, communications, policies, and other required written materials. [Required] Ability to actively listen and communicate effectively through clear speech and hearing. [Required] Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and communication devices and perform all aspects of the job safely without imposing risk to self and/or others. [Required] Computer literacy with the ability to use basic hospital/security applications and information management systems. [Required] Good critical thinking skills, and ability to set and quickly reset priorities. [Required] Ability to work and train in an environment with occurring periods of crisis and stress. [Required] Ability to recognize faces. [Required] Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors, employees, the public, students, and faculty. [Required] Basic computer skills including, but not limited to, Windows, Word, and Excel. [Preferred] Knowledge of Access Control and CCTV systems. [Preferred] Understanding of Emergency Management principles. [Preferred] 40‑hour Security Officer training. [Preferred] Hazmat training. [Preferred] Education and Experience High School graduate or equivalent. [Required] Licenses and Certifications Driver's License (DL). [Required] Basic Life Support – CPR Certificate (BLS).
