Full Time Senior Trades Technician 1

The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent. This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 100 pounds on occasion. Responsibilities Leads and supervises the Maintenance Technical or General Maintenance crew in the daily work assignments, observing and monitoring work tasks, ensuring work is performed safely, evaluating work performance, and assisting employees to correct deficiencies. Assists the Foreman in assigning work duties and provides feedback to the Foreman. Assists the Foreman in ensuring safety at all work sites, directing and supervising work for quality assurance, training, instruction, and scheduling work for technicians while overseeing contractors performing small projects and maintenance on city facilities. Monitors project work by ensuring a safe working environment for crews; plans and requests materials or estimates for projects, necessary materials, services, and equipment. Ensures projects are completed in a timely manner; inspects work; and provides problem solutions as needed. Assists the Foreman with administrative duties by helping prepare daily work orders; overseeing contractors performing maintenance repairs and small projects for the city; assisting in preparing various reports; processing overtime and leave requests; completing accident forms; and monitoring projects, equipment, and supply inventories. Assists in maintaining equipment by inspecting for damage, performing routine maintenance; assists in establishing Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules and prioritizing work; aids in maintaining and updating work order assets in the computer-based system; and monitors and interacts with the Building Controls System. Acting supervisor in the absence of the Foreman. All other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager within your department/division. Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality for the assigned work hours is essential. Qualifications Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Education: Training beyond high school. Could include some college hours, technical school, or correspondence course. Experience: 4-6 years of related experience. Ability to operate a computer and the associated programs. Experience with Building Management Systems.
