Registered Nurse Surgical Intermediate Care Unit Full Time Days Full‑time Salary Range: $34.50 – $55.20 per hour Full‑time, days shift 7:00 am–7:30 pm with rotating weekends. The 26‑bed unit provides treatment, care, and service to adult patients with acute medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions, specializing in complex surgeries. The patient population includes but is not limited to esophagectomies, Whipple procedures, surgical‑oncology cases, high‑volume liposuction, multi‑level spinal fusions, vascular cases, and any surgical patient requiring a medication drip that is not appropriate for the medical‑surgical inpatient unit. The unit also accepts medical step‑down and overflow patients to enhance hospital throughput. Direct care of the 2A patients is provided by registered nurses with an ideal ratio of 1:3–4 patients for step‑down level of care. Responsibilities Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery and evaluate progress toward attainment of outcomes. Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistance involved in providing direct patient care. Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff. Create a documented plan focused on outcomes and decisions related to the care and delivery of services that indicates communication with patients, families, and others. Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects. Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and appropriately individualize the plan of care based on evaluation of findings. Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions. Qualifications Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and collaborative skills. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable with a commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of the first day of employment in a clinical nurse role. Preferred experience in specific clinical areas including Emergency Room, Pediatric Emergency Room, or Emergency Communications. Certified Pediatric Nurse or Certified Emergency Nurse preferred.
