AWS Cloud Operations Engineer

AWS Cloud Operations L2 Engineer (Export Control Eligible) Lake Saint Louis, MO Responsibilities Strong experience in cloud technologies (AWS/Azure) and cloud infrastructure. Hands‑on knowledge of cloud components such as EC2, load balancers, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudFormation, Bastion hosts, CloudWatch, subnets, routing, etc. Lead implementation and definition of Infrastructure as Code tools, including CloudFormation templates, Chef, Jenkins, Terraform, and Git. Work with a variety of security and monitoring agents (Qualys, CrowdStrike, Splunk, New Relic, Prisma, etc.). Configure and manage core IAM services, security groups, and network ACLs within AWS. Setup and validate backups, mount storage, and implement cybersecurity tools. Set up logging and monitoring tools and verify their operation. Manage load balancers with authentication and install SSL certificates for secure application deployment. Ensure secure and scalable cloud environments using AWS services. Lead incident calls and coordinate across multiple teams following ITIL practices. Manage major incidents and escalations. Technical Skills AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, Security Groups, Network Load Balancers, Application Load Balancers, Elastic Kubernetes Service, Elastic Container Service, CloudWatch, Route 53. Operating systems: Linux, Windows Server. Networking, monitoring, and security concepts. Programming/scripting: Python, Bash. AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Chef, Jenkins. Automation, operational automation, and monitoring improvements. Experience & Qualifications 10+ years of experience in infrastructure and/or cloud operations. 5+ years of hands‑on AWS experience. Proven experience managing major incidents and escalations. Strong troubleshooting skills in Linux and Windows Server. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Leadership and team coordination in a 24x7 production support environment. Bachelor of Computer Science (or equivalent). Preferred: AWS Certified Security – Specialty.
