Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN PACU - Post Anesthesia Care for a travel nursing job in Washington, District of Columbia. This role involves monitoring and caring for post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia. The ideal candidate must have recent preoperative experience and the ability to work independently in a high-acuity environment. Job Details Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with potential for call. Required Qualifications: Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse in the state or district. Graduate from an accredited or NLN-approved RN program. BSN degree highly desired. Must have at least 2 years of recent preoperative experience, excluding surgical center work. Certifications: PALS, BLS, and ACLS are required. Monitor post-operative patients levels of recovery and consciousness from anesthesia and provide updates to the medical team. Obtain and record patients vital signs. Observe patients for signs of side effects of anesthesia medication. Treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia, administering medication as prescribed. Update charting (Electronic Medical Records), patient files, and medical records. Educate patients and their families on post-surgery care and address questions. Additional Information: Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility. Experience in PACU and preoperative care is required; surgical center experience is not sufficient. Critical thinking skills are essential.
