Position Overview

Opportunity for an Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist at our organization. We invite you to join our vibrant team and contribute positively to the lives of patients with ACHD. We are in search of a committed and enthusiastic ACHD cardiologist to enhance our expanding program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional outpatient and inpatient care to patients with ACHD.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create personalized treatment strategies.
  • Engage in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatric cardiology and adult cardiovascular diseases.
  • Participate in research projects and initiatives.
  • Take part in advocacy efforts for ACHD at both state and national levels.
Facility and Program Details

Our organization’s Center for Heart Care is home to the largest ACHD program in Arizona and is the only ACHA Accredited Comprehensive Care Center in the state. Our team includes:

  • 24 cardiologists
  • 13 cardiac intensivists
  • 3 cardiovascular surgeons
  • 24 advanced practice providers

We provide ambulatory cardiac services throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and have outreach clinics across greater Arizona. Our organization is among the largest pediatric health systems in the nation and a leading choice for pediatric care in the Southwest. Inpatient ACHD care is provided at our facility and in partnership with a large academic medical center known for its renowned institutes.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or equivalent qualification.
  • Board certified or eligible in Pediatric Cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Board certified or eligible in Adult Congenital Heart Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Arizona.

Our organization is affiliated with the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix. ACHD cardiologists will hold academic positions within the divisions of Child Health and Internal Medicine.

Position DutiesPatient Care Services
  • Deliver patient care services for which you are clinically privileged, including but not limited to:
    • Direct patient care on both inpatient and outpatient bases.
    • Subspecialty consultations and follow-up care.
    • Diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures.
    • Urgent/emergent care as necessary.
  • Aim for optimal patient and family-centered care.
  • Support hospital patient satisfaction goals and division-specific targets.
  • Adhere to divisional patient safety and quality care standards.
  • Practice contemporary evidence-based medicine.
Divisional Responsibilities
  • Set and strive to meet annual goals and objectives for yourself and the division.
  • Support medical education programs, including:
    • Supervising trainees and allied health professionals in service delivery.
    • Conducting teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences.
    • Participating in the education and supervision of trainees.
    • Engaging in postgraduate continuing education activities.
  • Contribute to the division's research initiatives.
  • Support the growth of the division's programs.
  • Assist with satellite efforts of the division when appropriate.

Additional Activities
  • Assist the Division Chief in liaising with the professional community and public as needed.
  • Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside the organization to support divisional initiatives.
  • Represent the organization in the medical and business communities professionally.
  • Essential skills include:
    • Effective communication via phone, computer, or other devices.
    • Ability to fulfill after-hours or night call responsibilities as required.
    • Consistent attendance during scheduled work hours.
