Vice President of Philanthropy

Job Purpose:
The Vice President of Philanthropy serves as a senior member of the organization's executive leadership team and provides strategic leadership for all fundraising and development activities. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive fundraising program that ensures long‑term financial sustainability and advances the organization's mission.
Th oversees major gifts, planned giving, individual giving, foundation and corporate support, special events, and emerging revenue opportunities. In close partnership with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership, the VP builds strong donor relationships, strengthens fundraising infrastructure, and leads a high performing development team.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Advancement
- Serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO and Board on fundraising strategy and organizational growth.
- Participate in organizational strategic planning, bringing a revenue and donor‑centric perspective.
- Uphold and model the highest standards of ethical fundraising, professionalism, and accountability.
- Represent the organization's mission, vision, and values to donors, partners, and the community.
Fundraising Strategy & Revenue Growth
- Design and execute a comprehensive, multi‑channel fundraising strategy aligned with short‑ and long‑term goals.
- Develop and manage annual development plans, calendars, and budgets.
- Set, monitor, and achieve ambitious annual fundraising goals.
- Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including innovative fundraising channels.
- Monitor fundraising trends and best practices to ensure adaptability and sustained growth.
Major Gifts, Planned Giving & Donor Portfolio Management
- Lead the organization's major and planned giving strategy.
- Personally manage a portfolio of major gift donors and high‑capacity prospects.
- Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and planned gift donors.
- Develop individualized donor strategies based on giving history, capacity, and engagement.
- Strengthen the donor pipeline by upgrading existing donors and acquiring new prospects.
Donor Relations, Stewardship & Communications
- Create and oversee a comprehensive donor stewardship and engagement program.
- Ensure timely, thoughtful acknowledgements and clear communication of donor impact.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to align messaging, branding, and fundraising materials.
- Oversee preparation of proposals, solicitations, briefing materials, and donor communications.
- Ensure donors are meaningfully connected to the mission through updates, experiences, and outcomes reporting.
Board & Volunteer Engagement
- Partner with board members to build their confidence and effectiveness in fundraising.
- Serve as staff liaison to board committees related to fundraising and development.
- Support board and volunteer involvement in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.
Team Leadership & Organizational Capacity
- Recruit, mentor, manage, and evaluate development staff.
- Build a collaborative, results‑oriented development team with clear goals and accountability.
- Foster professional growth and a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
- Work cross‑departmentally to align fundraising efforts with programs, finance, and operations.
Systems, Data & Operational Oversight
- Oversee donor database and ensure accurate prospect tracking and reporting.
- Analyze fundraising performance and prepare regular reports for leadership and the board.
- Ensure effective use of fundraising technology and vendor relationships.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, legal requirements, and reporting standards.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, social work, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
- Must have effective organizational, problem-solving, time management, and analytical skills.
- Must be able to represent and reflect Maggie's Place positively and professionally to all avenues of the community.

Additional Requirements:
- Must possess or have regular access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
- Must possess a valid Arizona driver license and active auto insurance.
- Must be able to comply and meet the national and state criminal background check, national sex offender registry, and a Motor Vehicle Records check as required by Maggie's Place.
