Physical Therapist I – University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy – Miami, FL. Full‑time position providing physical therapy and wellness services to patients with impairments, functional disabilities, or changes resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. The role collaborates with physicians, occupational therapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. Core Job Functions Evaluates new patients, establishes goals, and develops appropriate treatment plans. Documents all evaluations, treatments, and other pertinent patient interactions daily. Educates patients and families regarding medical conditions and provides instructions for home activities. Communicates with physicians and their staff to obtain necessary information and suggest revisions to treatment. Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner. Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or clinic need. Participates in quality and safety improvement activities. Orients, instructs, and directs work activities for assistants and support personnel. Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for learning programs, monitors effectiveness, and adapts programs accordingly. Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Core Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant field required. No previous experience required. Valid State of Florida Physical Therapist license required. Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Learning Agility – Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands. Teamwork – Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. Technical Proficiency – Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. Communication – Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders. Department Specific Functions, Tools, and Equipment Use of all necessary rehabilitation equipment and durable medical equipment such as mobility devices, patient lift equipment, physical agents, exercise equipment, and general office equipment. Electronic Medical Record and multiple related software programs and tools with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations. Achieves the annually established baseline level for productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis or clinic need. Completes comprehensive, timely, and accurate documentation that meets organizational, regulatory and institutional standards.
