Respiratory Therapist

AMN HEALTHCARE

New Orleans, LA

Overview

  • Provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support across inpatient and/or outpatient settings per physician orders and policy.

Education

  • Required: Associate’s Degree; Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.

Experience

  • Required: None specified.

Certifications

  • Required: State RT license; NBRC RRT; BLS (AHA).
  • Timing: ACLS within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Computer proficiency; effective communication; proficiency with clinical documentation systems; strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties (selected)

  • Sets up, monitors, and weans oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation; draws/analyzes ABGs and EKGs; delivers intermittent therapy; assists with airway changes; documents per policy.

Physical/Environmental

  • Acute hospital environment; direct patient care across adult units; potential exposure to infectious agents mitigated by PPE.
