Customer Service Specialist

Job Summary:

The FL-DOE-OSFA Office Support Worker serves as a Customer Service Specialist responding to inquiries from Florida high school and college students regarding state scholarships and grants. This role requires effective communication, patience, and proficiency with computer systems to provide accurate information and support. The position is full-time, supporting the Florida Department of Education's scholarship programs. Responsibilities:

• Answer incoming calls from students about Florida scholarships and grants.
• Provide clear and accurate information regarding scholarship eligibility and application processes.
• Maintain professionalism and composure when assisting stressed or upset customers.
• Document interactions and escalate issues as necessary.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent and up-to-date information delivery.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• High school diploma, general education degree, or equivalent.
• Ability to speak and understand English fluently.
• Experience in a professional work environment, preferably with at least 6 months in customer support.
• Strong job tenure with a demonstrated ability to remain in roles for extended periods.
• Ability to stay calm and professional when dealing with stressed or upset customers.
• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and related software.
• Successful completion of a Level 2 background screening including fingerprinting and criminal records checks through Florida Department of Law Enforcement and FBI.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Prior experience specifically in customer support roles.

Special Considerations:

• Must pass mandatory Level 2 background check including fingerprinting and criminal records checks.
• Position requires adherence to customer dress and safety equipment requirements if applicable.
• Contract/temporary position without benefits such as PTO or paid holidays.
• Strong job tenure is preferred; multiple short-term job changes should be clearly identified as contract assignments.

Scheduling:

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
