Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Surgery TeamWe are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our cardiac surgery team, providing post-operative care on a step-down unit. This is a non-surgical role focused entirely on the management and recovery of patients following cardiac procedures. The position offers a consistent weekday schedule with no weekend, holiday, or ICU coverage.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive post-operative management for cardiac surgery patients in a step-down settingPerform daily patient assessments, including monitoring clinical status and recovery progressManage medications, including titration and adjustments based on patient needsCoordinate care plans in collaboration with cardiac surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary teamsAddress post-operative complications and initiate appropriate interventionsFacilitate patient and family education related to recovery, medications, and discharge planningEnsure timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical recordQualificationsCurrent licensure as a Nurse PractitionerBoard certification (ACNP, AGACNP, FNP, or related)Experience in cardiology, cardiac surgery, or acute care preferredStrong clinical assessment and critical thinking skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-based environmentStrong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.Albany Medical Center is the centerpiece of medicine, research, and medical education in New York's Capital Region and is the area's largest private employer with more than 10,000 employees.Albany Medical Center offers excellent career opportunities in a wide range of roles in both patient care and administration.
