Certified Orthopedic Technician - Full-time; Sports Medicine

Overview Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Monday - Friday (8am - 4:30pm) Supports physician in all aspects of clinic; including fitting and applying pre-operative braces, crutches and other soft goods; helping prepare and apply casts and orthopedic appliances; and removing sutures, casts and splints. May also assist with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures and fracture reductions; may give patients instructions concerning cast care and the use of orthopedic appliances; may prepare and set up traction as requested by the physician and can assess patients in traction, detect deficiencies in the equipment and make adjustments as needed; may clean and stock the cast and soft goods room, order special supplies or equipment, and coordinate collection of patient data. Responsibilities Support physician in all aspects of clinic activities related to casts, braces, and orthopedic appliances. Assist with fitting and applying pre-operative braces, crutches, casts, and other soft goods; prepare and apply casts and orthopedic appliances; remove sutures, casts and splints. Assist with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures and fracture reductions. Provide patients with instructions concerning cast care and use of orthopedic appliances. Prepare and set up traction as requested by the physician; assess patients in traction; detect equipment deficiencies and make adjustments as needed. Clean and stock the cast and soft goods room, order special supplies or equipment, and coordinate collection of patient data. Required Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology; expertise in materials and equipment involved in casts, splints and braces. Physical effort including the abilities to sit or stand for extended periods; push, pull, squat, twist, turn, lift, bend, stoop and reach overhead; able to work effectively under stress or in emergency situations. Command of verbal and written English. Positive interpersonal communication skills. Good organizational skills. Preferred Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience Educational Requirements: Associate of Applied Science in Orthopedic Technology preferred. Salary Salary Range: $22.35-$33.98 The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education.
