Inbound Warehouse Materials Coordinator

Reports to: Receiving Supervisor

A day in this role

Start your shift by inspecting your pallet jack and propane or stand-up electric lift truck, tagging anything unsafe and pulling it from service if needed. With pick tickets in hand, you’ll pull the right items, in the right quantities, and build stable pallets for customer orders. You’ll document product locations to keep a clear audit trail, place items precisely where they belong, and jump in quickly when teammates need a hand finding or moving product.

On the dock, you’ll load trailers according to diagrams and secure freight with strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent movement. Around the warehouse, you’ll keep stacks safe and tidy, correct any risky patterns you spot, and maintain a clean, organized space—sweeping, consolidating pallets, and handling trash, corrugate, and plastic recycling. Cycle counts—daily, quarterly, or annually—will be part of your routine, and you’ll proactively report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

Yard hostling

When needed, you’ll operate a yard goat (yard mule/semi-tractor) to spot and move trailers on-site. You’ll maneuver safely through the lot, back accurately into dock doors, communicate clearly with Supervisors/Team Leads and warehouse staff, and complete required DOT pre- and post-trip inspections every day.

Core responsibilities

• Operate and maintain pallet jacks and propane or stand-up electric lift trucks; complete pre-shift safety inspections and remove unsafe equipment from service.
• Pick to ticket, palletize accurately, and stage orders.
• Create and maintain product location audit trails; place product in designated areas and expedite urgent requests.
• Manage waste and recycling: remove dumpsters as needed; crush and store corrugate and plastic appropriately.
• Count, weigh, and document moved materials; review production/shipping/receiving documentation for accuracy and correct errors.
• Load trucks to specified diagrams and secure freight (strapping, bracing, padding); follow work orders and oral instructions to determine materials to move.
• Continuously monitor storage areas for safe stack patterns; correct deficiencies immediately.
• Perform daily, quarterly, and annual cycle counts with high accuracy.
• Keep the facility clean and organized (sweeping, trash removal, pallet consolidation, etc.).
• Maintain a safe workplace by following all safety rules and reporting accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• High School Diploma or GED; higher education preferred.
• 2–3 years of related experience.
• Clear English communication (written and spoken); strong organization and time management.
• Comfort working in hot environments; able to stand or sit for long periods.
• Functional math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Lift from floor level to 4 feet; lift and move up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to see and step over obstacles of 6”, and navigate around obstacles of 40’’ x 48’’.
• Auditory awareness to hear forklifts and related equipment.
• Yard hostler capability: safely operate a yard goat, maneuver in lots, back to docks, and complete required DOT inspections.
• Safety mindset and effective communication with Supervisors/Team Leads and warehouse personnel.

Schedule, environment, and physical demands

• Full-time; Monday through Thursday; 40+ hours per week; occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
• Work involves extended standing and both hot and cold environments.
• Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50+ pounds; regular talking/hearing; frequent standing, walking, handling, and reaching; occasional sitting, climbing/balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; visual needs include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
• Travel: none expected.
