ALC Controls Technician

Job Summary ESIS seeks a ALC Controls Technician to be responsible for commissioning and maintaining customer systems that use pneumatic, electrical, and electronic technology. They must update As‑Built drawings and calibrate systems using electronic test equipment. The Technician will perform testing, programming, commissioning, servicing, and maintain positive customer relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Implement startup, commission, and re‑commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic/electrical/electronic technology. Maintain accurate As‑Built drawing package and make changes in Visio, Excel, Word as required. Calibrate systems with basic electronic test equipment such as multimeters, network terminals, and/or a laptop computer. Implement static (stand‑alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming. Set up operator workstations with all associated software. Manage turnover to service. Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress. Keep project management apprised of concerns and issues. Complete paperwork on‑time including timesheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on‑site documentation and project status reports. End‑to‑end testing, programming, startup, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects and accounts. Serve as direct customer contact, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at the customer's location. Coordinate with Controls Manager, project managers, and customers to understand installation and repair requirements and to examine building layouts, update issues, gather materials, and synchronize onsite work. Enforce safety to the highest standards and maintain security and accountability of company‑issued and procured assets. Maintain project‑related documentation including commissioning documentation, daily reports, as‑builts, and status reports. Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with company members, clients, subcontractors, and other trade contractors. Anticipate and meet short and/or unpredictable deadlines. Perform point‑to‑point checkout, commissioning, diagnostic, and maintenance procedures on building automation systems, front‑end workstations, servers, electric and pneumatic controls. Troubleshoot and repair building automation system panels, including communications equipment, printed circuit boards, power supplies, electrical/electronic controls, sensors, and transducers. Efficiently edit computer programs for building automation system points such as determining conversion patterns, defining point acronyms, and/or soliciting alarm specifications from operating personnel. Consult with Project Manager regarding scope additions, deductions, priorities and deadlines. Review contract documents and reconcile with RFIs, and project correspondence regarding approved additional scope to determine what scope should and should not be executed and confirm with the Project Manager. Installation of HVAC Automation Systems Required, Knowledge Base Consisting Of Assist with job commissioning, start‑up procedures and owner training if necessary. Prepare sketches showing as‑built location of wiring and equipment. Attend project meetings as necessary. Ability to work overtime, varied shift hours and occasional travel as needed. Effectively read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings. Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisor and crew members. Work independently and as a team member. Education and Experience 5 Years of experience with electrical systems (120VAC, 24VAC, 24VDC and 12VDC), preferably with low‑voltage control systems, including ladder logic, relay logic, controllers, and field‑controllable devices. 5 Years of experience with mechanical systems, including chillers, air handlers, VAV systems, boilers, and other mechanical equipment. Experience with Automated Logic, systems & networks is a plus. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Startup and commissioning of control systems relating to building automation. Well versed in multiple controls systems, as they may differ by site. Maintain a courteous disposition with customers at all times. Verify devices, panels, and annunciators of controls projects.
