SECURITY OFFICER 2-CAMP NAVAJO

Security Officer 2-Camp Navajo Job Location: Camp Navajo, Bellemont, AZ Salary: Up to $19.7000 per hour (DOE) Grade: 17 Closing Date: April 1st, 2026 Job Summary This position supervises, leads, directs, and mentors a shift of armed security officers providing security services to Camp Navajo facilities to protect against threats that would justify use of force, to include deadly force. Responsible for overseeing all shift activities and related administrative actions; conducts Security Officer training as required. Job Duties Directly interact with tenant units in support of requested security requirements for additional activities, including but not limited to inspection/security checks of items in conveyance (vehicles with hazardous materials). Support AZ ARNG senior leadership through directing security operations for high profile events. Answer and respond to dispatch calls from authorized authorities. Perform duties of Security Officer I, including but not limited to entry control, patrols, restoring order when required, detention and/or apprehension of trespasses or persons identified as a risk, search(s) for person(s) conducting criminal acts and/or other violations, provides assistance to evacuate/secure installation infrastructure in the event of an emergency. Review and sign SO1 PD. Supervise, lead, direct, and mentor a shift of armed security officers providing security services for the installation. Coordinate all shift activities such as managing leave requests, scheduling, conducting briefings, and organizing shift actives and duty assignments. Ensure all personnel on assigned shift have required equipment and are properly trained on duties and responsibilities for assigned position. Serves as the Field Training Officer (FTO) for new hires assigned to their shift. Approve electronic time entry for assigned personnel. Review written reports of subordinate personnel for completeness and accuracy, taking follow up action as required. Prepare performance appraisals, complete appreciation forms and initiate progressive disciplinary measures as required. Assist hiring managers with interview potential candidates. Assists with DEMA asset property inventory. Provide information to civic/public and/or government identified visitors and direct traffic management through designated traffic plans and/or parking areas consistent with force protection measures as prescribed by regulation and/or installation policies. Serves as Incident Commander of emergencies until relieved IAW NIMS/ICS. Assist the State/Territory Command Physical Security Officer with physical security inspections, risk analysis, and surveys. Support Camp Navajo Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program at CN and maintain logs of current participants on site. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Knowledge of: General Access Control Point operating procedures, patrol operations and emergency response. Applying search & seizure, arrest, use of force procedures. Must possess a functional knowledge of personal computer operations in a network environment. Electronic devices (i.e., radio and communications, computers, monitors, recording, and photography) and other security equipment. Standardized federal laws, regulations, methods, procedures, operating techniques, state, and local laws to perform tasks including, but not limited to, apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene; performing dispatcher duties involving passing of directions and information to officers on posting assignments; seeking, detecting, and protecting evidence and witnesses at the scene of an incident; and detaining witnesses and suspects. Ability to comprehend a wide variety of security, fire, and environmental alarm systems and the action appropriate in the event of their activation. Firearms and tactics utilized in emergency situations. Understand and follow Army Regulation (AR), Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA) Directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), policy letters and other written guidance. Game and Fish Regulations Principles and practices of supervision and leading a team in law enforcement duties. Skilled in: Effectively and professionally interact with installation personnel and civilians, in person and telephonic. Thorough understanding of the English language and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Safety with advance operations of weapons. Safety in the operation of security vehicles. Performance of all job duties and responsibilities in a safe and effective manner - mitigating risk to oneself and others. Reading and comprehending complex written documents, policies, and interpreting how those policies should be applied locally. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Application of law enforcement duties to include but not limited to report writing, detainment, appropriate use of force, sound judgment and decisiveness. Supervisory skills in mentoring and coaching employees. Knowledge and skills to apply conflict resolution. Ability to: Apply various levels of force in compliance with policy, regulations, or procedure. Demonstrate the ability to physically perform assigned duties. Carry and operate a firearm and/or additional weapons (lethal and nonlethal) and demonstrate a high level of proficiency, competence, and safety. Safely operate vehicles and state issued equipment. Render first aid. Maintain confidence and composure in high stress situations. Monitor and respond to security equipment, including but not limited to, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and Intrusion Detection System (IDS), phone and radios. Maintain good civil order of visitors and residents and guard against trespassers and prevent damage to property. Maintain a working knowledge of Department of Emergency Management directives, operating procedures and orders in relation to security. Provide Security Enforcement at special events. Oversee a variety of administrative functions. Communicate instructions to subordinate personnel while keeping supervisors informed on all matters pertaining to security. Work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Selective Preference(s) Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. The preferred candidate for this position will possess an Arizona (DPS) Guard Card, have 3 years’ experience working within the Military Police, former law enforcement or Security field. Have certification in Physical Security Courses and Anti-Terrorism Courses. Pre-Employment Requirements Special Job Requirements This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid Arizona state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation as well as possess the ability to achieve a favorable Tier 3 investigation for purpose of obtaining/maintaining a Secret clearance eligibility and Common Access Card (CAC). Must be able to qualify on all assigned and issued weapons to include lethal and less than lethal. If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.
