Department Summary

The Research Analyst will support applied research and evaluation projects on labor and workforce development in California. The role includes coordinating research, collecting and analyzing data, and collaborating with partners to produce reports and engaging materials for diverse audiences.
Position Summary

The Research Analyst will support applied research and evaluation projects in labor and workforce development for the POWER team. Key responsibilities include coordinating research and evaluation data collection efforts, designing methodologies, implementing studies, analyzing data, and disseminating findings. The role requires active engagement with community partners and stakeholders across Los Angeles and California. The Research Analyst will collaborate with the evaluation team to produce reports and create visually compelling materials for diverse audiences.

Salary & Compensation

Qualifications

• Research and Writing Strong research and writing skills. (Required) And
• Public Speaking Public Speaking skills and experience. (Required) And
• Media Experience and skill working with the media. (Required) And
• Immigrant Issues Knowledge of and experience with immigrant youth issues. (Required) And
• Participatory Education Knowledge of and experience with participatory education techniques. (Required)
• Proven systematic organizational skills to a) work independently with minimal supervision, b) determine workload priorities and tasks to complete work in a timely manner, and c) identify and resolve problems. (Required)
• Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, community members, workers, and outside organization officials and staff from diverse social, cultural, and educational background. (Required)
• Fluent bilingual English/Spanish skills, including oral interpretation and written translation. (Required)
• Technologically savvy, ability to learn new programs and applications such as Qualtrics and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. (Required)
• Versatility and substantive knowledge in workforce development. (Required)
• Strong research skills (e.g., experience conducting bibliographic searches, focus groups, interviews and surveys, and analyzing labor market data). (Required)
• Ability to perform a variety of intermediate and advanced statistical and analytical activities for the design of both quantitative and qualitative research studies and for the collection, compilation and analysis of data. (Required)
• Working knowledge of labor research and demonstrated ability to write clear, cogent, factually accurate research reports and summaries and to edit the work of others to the same standard. (Required)
• Ability to read and synthesize scholarly literature and to write articles and summaries on varied research topics. (Required)
• Ability to work independently on large and complex research projects, to negotiate and meet multiple deadlines, and to assist Labor Center staff in preparing materials for publication. (Required)
• Skill in determining priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and deadlines. (Required)
• Demonstrated ability to share research and evaluation results to a variety of stakeholders using popular education principles. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

• Bachelor's Degree In related area and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
